A sign-up sheet will be posted and people will be seen on a first come basis.

Cast:
Axel Star: Male, 35-55. The star of the radio show. Funny, great comedic timing, a little scattered, nervous and highly excitable.
Joe: Male, 40-70. Announcer and co-host (Axel's Ed McMahon). Calm, stable, the "voice of reason".
Nicole LaTouche/Jingle Gal: Female, 25-45. Strong singing (3-part harmony), solo, acting and improve ability required.
Ginny Marshall/Jingle Gal: Female, 25-45. Strong singing (3-part harmony), solo, acting and improve ability required.
Sadie Hall/Jingle Gal: Female, 25-45. Strong singing (3-part harmony), solo, acting and improve ability required.
Ruby: Female, 55+. Cameo role - does one comedic monologue in Act 2
Sound effects table operator: Male or Female, any age over 18. High stress role as all sound effects must be made live during the show.

Please prepare a comedy monologue (men and women) and a song from the 1940's era (women only). Sides from the script will be provided and you may also be asked to read one of the roles at your audition.

Theatre Kelowna Society Invites Directors and Script Writers to 1st Open House

Kelowna, BC - In celebration of 64 years of inspiring Okanagan residents to get involved in community theatre, Theatre Kelowna Society invites local amateur writers and directors to submit their talents to the stage for their 2013-14 seasons.

“Theatre Kelowna is made up of individuals and families with a passion for the arts, but we’re always on the look out for new directors and interesting scripts that should be on the stage,” said Board Director, Andrew Taylor. “We know they're out there and we want to meet them.”

Theatre Kelowna will host their 1st Annual Open House on February 12th from 7-9pm at the Rotary Centre of the Arts. Producers, directors and scriptwriters be on hand to explain submission criteria, the annual show schedule, volunteer opportunities, as well as offering the public a chance to tour their archives and costumes.

Caught in the Net - Theatre Kelowna Society's Next Production

If you think your life is complicated and you’d like to have some comic relief, mark your calendar to see Caught in the Net, the upcoming outrageously- funny comedy opening April 26th at the Black Box Theatre. Written by Ray Cooney and directed by Stephen Jefferys, this fast-paced British comedy was nominated for the 2002 Olivier (Britain’s equivalent of the Tony Award) and for Best New Comedy the previous year.

The play follows the antics of Londoner John Smith, a two-timing taxi driver who keeps two separate families. When his teenage children (a girl from one family and a boy from the other) happen to meet in an Internet chat room and want to meet, the hijinks begin as John tries to head off certain disaster. Enlisting the help of his best friend Stanley, they invent multiple “cover stories” that grow until they get entirely out of control…and then when Stanley’s slightly crazy father arrives to go on holiday, things really get absurd.

Set to play the part of John Smith is Rod Shuttleworth, last seen in Shakespeare Kelowna's 2012 summer show as the clown 'Launce', best friend Stanley is Joe Welton, who won best supporting actor at last years Okanagan Zone Festival, and Stanley’s dad is TKS veteran, Roger Ward. Rounding out the silliness are Hillary Omoe (Vicki, his daughter), Peter Macleod (Gavin, his son) and his two wives Barbara (Susanne Haslund) and Mary (Ruby Bullock).

Caught in the Net runs April 25-28 and May 2-5, (Wednesday to Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm). Auditions - Caught in the Net - January 11th & 12th

Theatre Kelowna Society is pleased to announce audition dates for our upcoming spring show "Caught in the Net" by Ray Cooney. Auditions will take place Friday January 11th from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday January 12th from 10 am to 4 pm in the TKS Scene Shop at the RCA. Please come prepared with a monologue, preferably comedic, and you will be required to cold read from the play script. Please email auditions@theatrekelowna.org or call 250-899-4348 for a time.

Show Synopsis:

John Smith, a London taxi driver has two wives in different parts of London. Modern technology is about to lead Smith's two families into a head-on collision. The show opens on a set that represents both homes, which allows for simultaneous action in both locations. Enter son Gavin Smith with his mum Barbara and daughter Vicki Smith with her mum Mary. Both teenagers are discussing having met in an Internet chat room. They are amazed that they both have fathers named John Leonard Smith who are London taxi drivers, and since romance has blossomed, they are determined to meet in person. The audience soon learns that the "amazing coincidences" are due to the fact that they indeed have the same father, but the characters are still in the dark. When Dad gets wind of their plan to meet, chaos ensues as he tries to keep the teens apart and keep his dual life secret from both his wives and kids. John quickly enlists the help of his dopey boarder Stanley, which only leads to hilarious lies, mistaken identities and mysterious phone calls. When Stanley's senile father arrives for a holiday, it stirs up the antics even further. In a Ray Cooney farce, if something can go wrong, it will! it may be difficult to rehearse without frequently dissolving into laughter.

This will also be our Ozone piece, and we will be taking the show to Vernon to compete this year.

Theatre Kelowna Society is pleased to present its Christmas Show, The Rockin' Tale of Snow White, directed by Jeff Samin with musical direction by Gary Cable beginning Friday, November 23 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

This hilarious and fresh take on the beloved children’s tale is engaging and entertaining for all ages. Come watch familiar and favourite characters, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Evil Queen and the Huntsman sing their hearts out. Meet wacky new characters like the rhyme-happy ladies-in-waiting and a rapping mirror with a definite attitude.

Catchy songs in a variety of genres, including hip-hop, rock and doo wop, will keep your toes tapping and the comedic antics will have you laughing out loud!
